IT Professional

I entered Gardner-Webb University believing that I would become an accountant (every freshman’s dream, right?). That was until I began working at the library as an assistant archivist. Now, I’ve always loved books, libraries, history, and museums, so it was no surprise that I enjoyed my job where I got to daily read through historic documents and artifacts and digitize them for everyone to enjoy; however, I didn’t expect it take me down the path to where I am now.

The long and short of it is that I decided simply to pivot my degree with this new-found interest in library science and became a computer information systems major. This then led to an internship at the local school system where I used Microsoft Power BI to create visualizations of their disciplinary records. Then, I obtained an internship with The Hartford in their Leadership Development Program working with Oracle, Toad, and Python as a data engineer.

And now today: I have been hired on full-time in the same LDP program from my internship, and I am working my way through several Operations, Technology, Data, and Analytics related rotations.

Work, Life, & Faith Blogger

I have been a writer since I was able to pick up a pencil. And while my dream as a child may have been to write the next great novel, I think I have found a more realistic calling in blogging. Through my blog, I seek to share my experiences and advice on all things career, lifestyle (mostly reading), and faith.
